Every November of each year is declared as “National Clean Air Month through National Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance consciousness” by virtue of Proclamation No. 1109, series of 1997 signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos on October 22, 1997. The proclamation seeks to curb the adverse effects of exhaust pollutants from motor vehicles to public health and environment by reducing emissions and creating awareness among the motoring public regarding the importance and benefits of vehicle maintenance.
For this year’s celebration, conveying the theme “Nurture Nature for a Sustainable Future”, this office along with the DENR-EMB XI personnel conducted a one-day joint emission testing of government vehicles on November 24, 2021 in the vicinity of City Hall.
Overall, a total of 49 vehicles were tested during the activity from which 40 vehicles passed and 9 failed.
All drivers of vehicles who failed the emission test were advised to regularly check their vehicles and provide preventive maintenance to ensure their vehicle’s good working condition at all times.
